Barcelona Stage Epic Comeback to Defeat Celta Vigo 4-3 in La Liga Thriller
La Liga leaders Barcelona showcased remarkable resilience as they overturned a 3-1 deficit to triumph 4-3 over Celta Vigo in a rollercoaster match on Saturday. Raphinha’s stoppage-time penalty sealed the victory, extending Barcelona’s lead over rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table.
The match began with Barcelona taking the lead when Ferran Torres dribbled through midfield and unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. However, Celta Vigo responded swiftly. Pablo Durán delivered a superb cross, and a misjudgment by Barcelona’s keeper allowed Borja Iglesias to tap in an equalizer.
The second half saw Barcelona falter as Frenkie de Jong’s error gifted Iglesias another goal. Iglesias completed his hat-trick shortly after, capitalizing on Barcelona’s high defensive line to make it 3-1.
Determined not to concede defeat, Barcelona battled back. Substitute Dani Olmo, entering the game in the 59th minute, scored just five minutes later after combining with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. Olmo’s impact didn’t stop there; he assisted Raphinha in tying the game 3-3 with a precise cross that Raphinha headed home.
Deep into stoppage time, Olmo was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty after a VAR check. Raphinha confidently stepped up and blasted the ball into the top corner in the 98th minute, securing the dramatic win for Barcelona.
“This is football. We wanted to win this game but we weren’t always at our best,” Olmo told DAZN after the match. “But the team came through in the end, and the crowd pushed us right to the finish. It’s three points towards our objective, but we have to keep going.”
The victory puts pressure on second-placed Real Madrid, who face Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, while Celta Vigo remain seventh in the standings with 43 points.
