China’s Rising Stars Secure Double Silver at Artistic Swimming World Cup

China’s artistic swimming team made a splash at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Markham, Canada, clinching two silver medals on Saturday.

The mixed duet of Guo Muye, 16, and Liu Jinhan, 23, dazzled in their international debut as a pair, scoring 276.9909 points in the mixed duet free final. Their stellar performance earned them the silver medal, just behind Spain’s Dennis Gonzalez Boneu and Iris Tio Casas, who took gold. The bronze went to Spanish teammates Jordi Caceres Iglesias and Aurora Lazaro Cabaleiro.

Guo, who had previously claimed the men’s solo free title earlier at the World Cup stop, added to his achievements with this silver. His rapid rise highlights his growing prominence on the world stage.

In the women’s duet free final, Chinese twin sisters Lin Yanhan and Lin Yanjun showcased remarkable synchronicity, earning 253.0640 points to secure the silver medal. Spain’s Tio Casas, paired with Lilou Lluis Valette, captured the gold, while the French duo of Laelys Alavez and Romane Lunel took home bronze.

The impressive performances by China’s young athletes signal a bright future for the nation’s artistic swimming prospects in upcoming international competitions.
