Pakistan Reports Death Toll from Indian Strikes Rises to 26

Pakistan’s military has reported that the death toll from Indian missile strikes and cross-border firing on Wednesday has risen to 26 civilians. Military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry announced the updated figures, stating, “Until now, 26 innocent civilians have been martyred in attacks.”

Tensions between Pakistan and India have escalated in recent days, with both nations accusing each other of violating ceasefire agreements along the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border dividing the disputed region of Kashmir. The latest incidents have raised concerns about stability in the region.

Pakistani officials have condemned the attacks, calling for international intervention to de-escalate the situation. There has been no immediate response from Indian authorities regarding the allegations.

The two South Asian neighbors have a long history of conflict over Kashmir, and cross-border skirmishes are not uncommon. However, the reported use of missile strikes marks a significant escalation.

Local residents in affected areas have expressed fear and uncertainty. “We are worried about our safety,” said one villager near the border, who asked not to be named. “We hope that peace will return soon.”

The international community has often urged both nations to engage in dialogue to resolve their differences and prevent further civilian casualties.
