India and Pakistan Trade Drone Attack Accusations

Drone Attacks Fuel India-Pakistan Tensions, Dozens Killed

Drone Attacks Spark Escalation Between India and Pakistan

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply as both nations accuse each other of conducting drone attacks and military operations across the border. The recent exchanges mark some of the worst violence between the two countries in decades.

On Thursday, Indian armed forces reportedly launched operations against air defense systems at multiple locations inside Pakistan. Indian media outlets cited government sources stating that “Operation Sindoor,” initiated against Pakistani targets on May 7, is still underway.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the situation, saying, “India does not want to see the situation escalating, but we will hit back if Pakistan takes any further actions.”

According to the Indian defense ministry, Pakistan attempted to strike military targets across northern and western India with drones and missiles on the nights of May 7 and 8. The ministry claimed that all hostile attempts were neutralized by India’s air defense systems.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military has accused India of repeated drone incursions into Pakistani airspace since the early hours of Thursday. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations—the media wing of the Pakistani army—stated that Pakistan has shot down 12 Indian drones in locations including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

Additionally, Pakistan reported that an Indian drone struck a military target in Punjab province, injuring at least four military personnel and damaging facilities.

The cross-border attacks have resulted in at least 48 fatalities on both sides since India launched air strikes on Wednesday, which it said targeted “terrorist camps.” The surge in violence has raised international concerns about stability in the region.

The longstanding rivalry between India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed nations, has often flared into conflict. The latest escalation underscores the fragility of peace efforts and the potential risks of further military confrontation.

International observers are urging both nations to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent a deeper crisis.
