Al Ittihad secured their 10th Saudi Pro League title in spectacular fashion, overcoming an early deficit to defeat Al Raed 3-1 on Thursday. The victory, achieved with two games remaining, crowns them champions and ends their league title drought.
Al Raed, already relegated, shocked the visitors by taking the lead in the 9th minute. However, Al Ittihad demonstrated their champion spirit by equalizing shortly after and then taking the lead before halftime.
In the second half, Al Ittihad extended their advantage, putting the match beyond Al Raed’s reach. The win lifts them to 77 points from 32 matches, nine points clear of second-placed Al Hilal.
Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo expressed his delight, stating, “We have worked hard all season for this moment. The team showed great character to come from behind and clinch the title.”
The Jeddah-based club now looks forward to the King’s Cup final on May 30 against Al Qadsiah, aiming to complete a memorable double this season.
