Wang Sun Win Mixed Doubles Title at Table Tennis World Championships

China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha Secure Third Consecutive Mixed Doubles Title

Doha, Qatar — China’s Olympic champions Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha continued their dominance in table tennis by clinching their third consecutive mixed doubles title at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Table Tennis Championships Finals on Saturday.

The dynamic duo overcame Japan’s Maharu Yoshimura and Satsuki Odo with a 3-1 victory, posting scores of 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8 in a 39-minute match. This win marks their 16th consecutive triumph at the event.

“Our rivals posed a great threat with their cohesion and tactics,” Sun commented after the match. “We trusted each other when the score was close. We shared the same determination to make it three in a row.”

Liu Guoliang, First Vice President of the ITTF, presented the championship trophy to the Chinese pair, acknowledging their outstanding performance.

Earlier in the day, both Wang and Sun advanced to the singles finals. Wang secured his spot in the men’s final by defeating Sweden’s Truls Moregard in a gripping match that ended 5-11, 11-8, 11-2, 12-10, 12-10. He will face Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, who edged out China’s Liang Jingkun in a thrilling seven-game semifinal.

In the women’s singles, an all-China final is set as Sun and Wang Manyu both sailed through their semifinals. Sun dominated Japan’s Mima Ito with a straight-sets victory of 11-7, 11-5, 11-9, 11-4, while Wang Manyu overcame compatriot Chen Xingtong 11-8, 11-8, 11-2, 11-8.

Sun has the opportunity to claim three gold medals in Doha. Alongside Kuai Man, she advanced to the women’s doubles final after defeating Japan’s Miwa Harimoto and Miyuu Kihara with scores of 11-8, 11-6, 11-5. The Chinese pair will face Austria’s Sofia Polcanova and Romania’s Bernadette Szocs in the final.

The successes of Wang and Sun highlight China’s continued excellence in table tennis, inspiring fans and aspiring athletes across the globe.
