A bridge collapsed early Sunday in the Zheleznogorsk district of Russia’s Kursk region, causing a freight train to derail, according to Russian lawmaker Alexander Khinshtein.

The incident occurred at the 48-kilometer mark of the Trosna-Kalinovka highway. Part of the train fell onto the road beneath the bridge, and the locomotive caught fire, Khinshtein reported. Emergency services are currently working at the scene.

One of the locomotive drivers was injured in the accident, the lawmaker noted. The extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and working to clear the area to restore traffic flow.
