Han Yue started strong, dominating the first game with a 21-12 win. Chen, the reigning Olympic gold medalist, found her rhythm in the second game. The two athletes battled fiercely for every point, but Chen edged out Han 21-15 to level the match.
Riding the momentum, Chen took control in the decisive third game. With aggressive plays and tactical precision, she pressured Han into making errors, closing out the match with a 21-12 victory. This win marks Chen’s tenth consecutive triumph over Han in their head-to-head encounters.
Chen expressed her determination after the match, saying, “I focused on adjusting my strategy after the first game. It’s always challenging playing against a teammate, but I’m happy to advance to the final.”
Awaiting Chen in the final is Wang Zhiyi, who defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in a thrilling three-game match, 21-12, 12-21, 21-17. The all-China final promises to be a showcase of top-tier badminton talent.
In the mixed doubles semifinals, China’s Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui faced a tough challenge against Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Tang and Tse clinched the first game narrowly at 22-20. Guo and Chen fought back to take the second game 21-19, but ultimately fell 21-16 in the final game.
Tang and Tse will compete for the mixed doubles title against Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran.
The finals are set to deliver high-octane action as players vie for the prestigious Singapore Open titles.
