Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has finally etched its name in European football history by securing its first UEFA Champions League title with a resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich.
Under the guidance of Spanish coach Luis Enrique, PSG showcased a shift from star-studded signings to a focus on cohesive team-building. The match was a testament to this new era, with 19-year-old French forward Desire Doue leading the charge. Doue dazzled the crowd by scoring twice and providing an assist before leaving the pitch in the second half.
“I don’t have words,” said an elated Doue after the match. “But what I can say is, ‘Thank you Paris,’ we did it.”
The scoring spree began just 12 minutes into the game. Vitinha threaded a precise pass to Doue, who unselfishly set up Achraf Hakimi for an easy tap-in, giving PSG an early lead. Eight minutes later, Doue’s shot deflected off Federico Dimarco, doubling the advantage.
Doue secured his second goal in the 63rd minute, coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner after a swift break. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added a fourth goal ten minutes later, and substitute Senny Mayulu joined the action by scoring in the 86th minute, just two minutes after entering the field. Both Doue and Mayulu became the third and fourth teenagers to score in a Champions League final.
Ousmane Dembele played a pivotal role as well, contributing two assists. “It’s pride, it’s everything, it’s exceptional,” Dembele commented. “It’s a first for PSG, but especially good since we did it in style. We went to Liverpool, to Aston Villa, and played great games. We deserve it, and so do the fans.”
The victory not only marks PSG’s first Champions League triumph but also stands as the largest margin of victory in a final in the competition’s 70-year history. The Parisian club’s emphatic performance signals a new chapter, promising more success with its youth-driven approach.
