Alcaraz Tops Injured Paul in Three Sets to Reach French Open Last Four

Alcaraz Defeats Injured Paul to Reach French Open Semifinals

Carlos Alcaraz surged into the French Open semifinals after defeating an injured Tommy Paul in straight sets on Tuesday. The second-seeded Spaniard showcased his top form at Roland-Garros, securing a 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 victory over the American.

Paul, with his right thigh heavily taped, struggled to match Alcaraz’s pace and precision. “I’ve felt better, you know?” Paul admitted. “Pretty early on, it was obvious I wasn’t moving well.”

Alcaraz capitalized on the situation, delivering a masterclass in confidence and skill. “Today was one of those days where you feel every shot is going to be a winner,” he said. “You play with a lot of confidence. No fear of anything.”

The first two sets lasted just 52 minutes, with Alcaraz dominating the court. Paul showed resilience in the third set, briefly leading 4-3, as fans at Court Philippe-Chatrier chanted his name. However, Alcaraz regained control, winning the next three games to close out the match in just over an hour and a half.

“At Grand Slams, the less time you spend on court, the better,” Alcaraz noted. “Can’t ask for a better performance.”

Next, Alcaraz will face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who advanced to his first French Open semifinal by defeating American Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. With fellow Italian Jannik Sinner also progressing, Italy celebrates two male quarterfinalists at Roland-Garros for the first time since 1973.

The excitement builds as Alcaraz continues his quest for another Grand Slam title, with fans eagerly anticipating his upcoming clash with Musetti.
