A Japanese company’s ambitious plan to land a spacecraft on the moon ended in disappointment when communication was lost during the final descent. Tokyo-based company ispace confirmed that its Hakuto-R Mission 1 lander likely crashed while attempting a soft landing on the lunar surface in April 2023.
