China Urges Israel to Halt Military Actions Against Iran
United Nations, Oct 27 — China’s ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, has called on Israel to immediately cease its military actions against Iran, condemning what he described as violations of Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday, Fu expressed deep concern over Israel’s recent strikes against Iran, emphasizing that the escalation of conflicts serves no party’s interests.
“China opposes the escalation of conflicts and is deeply concerned about the consequences that may result from Israel’s actions,” Fu said. “We urge Israel to immediately halt all risky military actions and avoid further escalation.”
Fu called on all relevant parties to adhere to the UN Charter and international law, advocating for disputes to be resolved through political and diplomatic means. He highlighted China’s consistent stance on the Iranian nuclear issue, emphasizing the need for dialogue and negotiation.
“China firmly opposes the use of force, illegal unilateral sanctions, and armed attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities,” Fu stated. “Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy should be fully respected.”
The ambassador also expressed concern over the negative impact that recent developments could have on diplomatic negotiations surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
China’s appeal comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with international observers warning of potential broader consequences if the situation continues to deteriorate.
