Tech and Innovation Take Center Stage at ASEAN Peacekeeping Conference in China

This week, Nanjing, the bustling capital of Jiangsu province in East China, became a hub for peacekeeping discussions as it hosted the 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations. Organized by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the five-day event brought together representatives from ADMM-Plus member and observer states, the United Nations, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Under the theme “Technology and Innovation for Peacekeeping,” delegates explored the latest advancements in peacekeeping operations. Workshops and seminars highlighted how cutting-edge technology can enhance the effectiveness and safety of peacekeepers in the field.

“In an era where technology evolves rapidly, integrating these innovations into peacekeeping efforts is crucial,” said a spokesperson from the PLA Army Command College, the host of the conference. “Collaborative platforms like this allow us to share knowledge and strengthen regional security.”

Participants engaged in discussions on topics ranging from unmanned aerial vehicles in surveillance missions to cybersecurity in peacekeeping communication networks. The event also featured demonstrations of new tools and equipment designed to support peacekeeping missions.

The conference, which concludes on Saturday, aims to foster stronger partnerships among ASEAN members and promote a shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
