In light of escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Indian students residing in Tehran have been moved out of the city for their safety, according to India's Foreign Ministry.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the ministry stated that arrangements have been made to relocate Indian students from the Iranian capital. "Those who are self-sufficient in terms of transport have been advised to move out as well," the spokesperson added.
Additionally, the Foreign Ministry reported that some Indian nationals have been facilitated to leave Iran through the border with Armenia. The exact number of evacuees was not disclosed.
The decision comes as regional tensions intensify, prompting concerns over the safety of foreign nationals in affected areas. The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and is in contact with authorities to ensure the well-being of its citizens abroad.
Families of those evacuated have expressed relief over the government's swift action. "We are thankful that our children are being brought to safety," said a parent whose child was studying in Tehran.
The ministry has urged all Indian nationals in Iran to stay alert and follow advisories issued by the Indian Embassy.
