Iraq Urges Emergency Arab Meeting Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has called for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to address escalating regional challenges. The proposal comes ahead of the upcoming Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference in Istanbul.

During a phone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, Hussein emphasized the need for Arab nations to coordinate their positions in light of rapid developments. “The aim of the proposed meeting is to address current challenges with a spirit of common responsibility,” he stated.

The ministers discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the ongoing conflicts involving Israel and their implications for regional security and stability.

In a separate conversation, Hussein spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Both officials underscored the importance of the OIC meeting, highlighting the need for strengthened diplomatic coordination among Islamic countries to ensure regional stability and prevent further deterioration of the situation.

The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC is scheduled to take place in Istanbul this weekend, according to Turkish authorities.
