Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia is ready to support Iran in developing a peaceful nuclear program. In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Putin emphasized that neither Russia nor the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has found any evidence suggesting that Iran is seeking to obtain nuclear weapons.
“Russia, as well as the IAEA, has never had any evidence that Iran is preparing to obtain nuclear weapons, as we have repeatedly informed the Israeli leadership,” Putin stated.
He affirmed Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program and expressed Russia’s willingness to assist in this endeavor.
Speaking at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, Putin also mentioned that Russia is sharing ideas with both sides to help end the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. However, he did not provide specific details about these proposals.
