An Iranian official has stated that only the above-ground parts of the Fordow nuclear facility in Qom Province were damaged in a recent U.S. military strike.
Mohammad Manan Raisi, a member of Iran’s parliament representing Qom, addressed the situation on Sunday. Contrary to U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims, Raisi asserted that the Fordow nuclear facility sustained minimal damage. “Most of what was damaged is only on the ground,” he said, emphasizing that these areas can be restored.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, Raisi assured that “all items that may pose a threat to nearby residents” had been removed from the facility well before the incident. He confirmed that there were no reports of nuclear radiation in the aftermath of the strike.
Raisi highlighted Iran’s stance on the U.S. attack, viewing it as direct involvement in ongoing regional conflicts. He declared that it is now “the time for Iran to decide when and how to respond to the U.S.”
The Fordow facility, located deep within a mountain in central Iran, has been a focal point of international concern over Iran’s nuclear activities. The recent developments add tension to the already strained relations between the two nations.
