The United States’ recent air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, involving U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers under Operation “Midnight Hammer,” have ignited global concern. A poll conducted by CGTN revealed that an overwhelming majority of respondents condemn the U.S. actions and criticize its “America First” foreign policy for contributing to instability in the Middle East.
According to the survey, 91% of participants expressed that U.S. intervention is escalating tensions amid international calls for de-escalation of the Israeli-Iranian conflict. Additionally, 90% believe that the U.S. attack severely violates the UN Charter and international law, infringing upon Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The poll also highlighted criticism of Israel’s military actions, with 90% of respondents stating that these actions rapidly escalate regional tensions. Furthermore, 84% condemn Israel for exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.
The international community is urging for effective measures to prevent further escalation. The survey found that 85% of global respondents believe that preventing the situation from spiraling out of control and prioritizing a ceasefire are urgent needs. Meanwhile, 77% emphasize that military measures cannot achieve lasting peace in the complex landscape of Middle Eastern issues, advocating for political solutions and dialogue.
An overwhelming 91% of respondents stress that influential major powers should take responsibility by actively promoting a ceasefire rather than allowing conflicts to spread unchecked.
The survey, released across CGTN’s multilingual platforms, engaged 10,472 participants worldwide within 12 hours.
