Ceasefire Announced After Iran Strikes U.S. Base in Qatar Amid Tensions

Iranian state media announced Tuesday that a ceasefire has been “imposed on the enemy” following a missile strike on a U.S. base in Qatar, marking Tehran’s military response to recent U.S. actions.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that no formal ceasefire deal exists with Israel but added that Iran will halt its attacks if Israel ceases what he termed “illegal aggression” by 4 a.m. local time.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israel and Iran have agreed to a “complete and total” ceasefire, calling it the end of the “12-day war.”

This diplomatic pause follows U.S. military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, actions that triggered Tehran’s threats of retaliation and raised concerns about U.S. bases across the region becoming potential targets.

The Middle East hosts a wide network of U.S. military installations. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, these range from long-term bases to temporary sites, highlighting the strategic presence of the U.S. in the region.
