Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner shared a memorable moment on Monday night, celebrating their first Wimbledon singles titles with a sweet dance at the inaugural Champions Dinner.
Swiatek, the world number one from Poland, delivered a commanding performance in the women’s singles final, defeating Amanda Anisimova of the United States 6-0, 6-0. Her victory marked one of the most dominant displays in Grand Slam history and earned her a sixth major title.
“I never even dreamt of winning Wimbledon,” Swiatek admitted. “I was called a clay court specialist for most of my career, so winning on grass feels super special. It’s a bit of a surprise for me, and I’m going to spend the next days enjoying it and soaking it all in.”
On the men’s side, Italy’s Jannik Sinner clinched his first Grand Slam title by overcoming defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in a thrilling final. Sinner battled back to secure a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory, avenging his loss to Alcaraz at the French Open earlier this year.
“Wimbledon is the tournament,” Sinner expressed with emotion. “Winning here today was truly the most special moment of my life on a tennis court. It was amazing.”
The pair’s joyful dance at the Champions Dinner capped off a historic weekend, symbolizing a new era in tennis as they both look forward to building on their success.
