Tehran, Iran — Iran has successfully replaced its air defense systems that were damaged during Israeli attacks last month, according to a senior Iranian army general.
In mid-June, Israel launched an unprecedented bombing campaign against Iran, prompting Tehran to respond with drone and missile strikes. The conflict saw Iran’s air defenses repeatedly activated across the country, particularly in the capital, Tehran.
“The enemy sought to destroy Iran’s defense capabilities, and some of our defense systems were damaged in that war,” said Mahmoud Mousavi, the army’s operations chief, as quoted by the official IRNA news agency on Sunday. “The damaged defense systems have now been replaced.”
Iran’s air defense network includes domestically developed systems like the Bavar-373 and Khordad-15, both designed to counter missiles and aircraft. The country also installed Russia’s S-300 air defense systems in 2016, bolstering its defensive capabilities.
The restoration of the air defense systems marks a significant step in Iran’s efforts to maintain its national security and deter future attacks. The announcement underscores Tehran’s commitment to reinforcing its military infrastructure amid ongoing regional tensions.
