Zhang Wenao Claims Gold in Men’s 1m Springboard at World University Games

Chinese diver Zhang Wenao soared to victory in the men’s 1-meter springboard final at the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games in Berlin on Tuesday, capturing gold with a stunning performance.

Starting off in second place after his first dive with 69.00 points, Zhang quickly seized the lead in the second round by scoring 77.50 points. He maintained his top position throughout, finishing with a total of 425.85 points.

Teammate Hu Yukang showcased remarkable resilience. After a shaky start placing fifth and dropping to eighth in the second round, Hu fought back. His final dive earned him 72.00 points, securing the silver medal with a total of 368.75 points.

Germany’s Tim Axer delighted the home crowd by claiming bronze with 354.80 points.

Meanwhile, China’s Guo Qing clinched the women’s taekwondo 53-kilogram title, defeating Thailand’s Chutikan Jongkolrattanawattana 2-1 in a thrilling final.

These victories propel China to second place on the medal table, boasting 12 gold, 17 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
