Chinas Lijian 1 Y6 Carrier Rocket Completes Final Assembly Test

China’s Lijian-1 Y6 Rocket Completes Final Tests, Set for December Launch

China’s Lijian-1 Y6 carrier rocket has successfully completed its final assembly test in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, according to its developer, CAS Space. The rocket, which will carry 11 satellites, is scheduled for launch in late December.

This latest version of the Lijian-1 series utilized a self-developed initiator for the first time, along with other innovative components that reduce operating costs and shorten production cycles, CAS Space reported. These advancements are aimed at improving mass production and regular operation of launch services.

During the final assembly, a 3.35-meter diameter fairing was fitted to the rocket, marking a significant milestone in its preparation.

The Lijian-1 series is central to China’s rapidly growing commercial space industry, known for its high success rate, reliability, and cost-effective performance. Over five missions, this rocket series has launched a total of 57 satellites.

CAS Space, a commercial spaceflight company established by the Institute of Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, plays a key role in this growth. In 2023, China conducted 67 rocket launches, including 13 private commercial missions, with 12 successfully reaching orbit.

China’s government has been emphasizing the importance of the commercial space sector, recognizing it as a strategic emerging industry in recent national development plans and economic conferences.
