In a significant step toward global internet coverage, SpaceX successfully launched 24 Starlink satellites into orbit on Thursday. The satellites were carried aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, which lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 11:07 a.m. Eastern Time.
The deployment of these satellites was later confirmed by SpaceX. The Starlink constellation aims to deliver high-speed broadband internet to locations where access has been unreliable, expensive, or completely unavailable.
This launch marks another milestone in SpaceX’s mission to provide global internet connectivity. For many communities in the Global South, this could mean better access to education, communication, and economic opportunities through reliable internet service.
