China and Japan have signaled a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation in energy conservation and environmental protection industries. The announcement was made at the 17th China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection held in Tokyo.
The forum, a significant international cooperation platform since 2006, brought together over 800 participants from both countries. Hosted by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Ministry of Commerce, along with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan-China Economic Association, the event focused on advancing green, low-carbon development.
Zhao Chenxin, vice-chairman of the NDRC, highlighted China’s active promotion of ecological civilization and acceleration of green, low-carbon development. He emphasized China’s dedication to enhancing its ecological framework and advancing cooperation on green technologies. “China has achieved significant results in promoting green development,” Zhao stated. “We will continue to strengthen environmental protection and governance.”
Both nations expressed a shared vision to jointly advance global and regional green, low-carbon development. During the forum, five sub-forums were held, and 27 cooperation agreements were signed, adding to the 457 projects established since the forum’s inception.
This collaboration marks a significant step in promoting sustainable development and combating climate change, setting an example of international cooperation in environmental protection.
