Multiple Trump Cabinet Nominees Targeted by Threats

Bomb Threats and Swatting Target Trump’s Cabinet Nominees

Several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees have been targeted by bomb threats and swatting incidents, according to the Trump transition team.

“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in violent, un-American threats to their lives and those who live with them,” Trump transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

She did not provide specifics about who was targeted. Swatting involves falsely reporting an emergency to law enforcement, aiming to trigger a massive, heavily armed response at an innocent person’s location.

Law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those targeted, Leavitt said in the statement posted on X.

According to reports from CBS News, those targeted included Susie Wiles, Trump’s incoming White House chief of staff; Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general and nominee for U.S. attorney general; Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, nominated to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; Howard Lutnick, Trump’s pick for secretary of commerce; and Brooke Rollins, nominee for secretary of agriculture.

A White House spokesperson stated that President Joe Biden has been briefed about the threats. “The president and the administration unequivocally condemn threats of political violence,” the spokesperson said.
