How Gen Z Sees the World Confucius in the Eyes of Young Armenians Video Poster

Gen Z Armenian Embraces Confucian Values for Global Harmony

The ancient wisdom of Confucius isn’t just confined to textbooks or China’s rich history—it resonates deeply with young people around the world. Arina, a student of Armenian and Russian heritage, is one such individual who finds inspiration in his teachings.

At the 2024 China International Confucius Cultural Festival in Qufu City, the birthplace of Confucius, Arina shared her thoughts on how the philosopher’s ideas continue to be relevant today. “Confucius advocates for self-cultivation, family harmony, good governance, and peace,” she said. “These principles are universal and timeless.”

For Arina, personal development is the cornerstone of a harmonious society. “It’s not just about individual success,” she emphasized. “It’s about how we fit into the world and contribute to it.” This perspective mirrors an Armenian proverb she holds dear: “Every person is the blacksmith of their own house.” It underscores the belief that individuals shape their homes and, by extension, their communities.

She notes the striking similarities between this saying and Confucius’s belief that a well-regulated family leads to a well-regulated state. “When we focus on improving ourselves and our relationships at home, we lay the foundation for a better society,” Arina explained.

Arina’s reflections highlight how Confucian values transcend cultural boundaries and remain relevant to Gen Z. In a world that often feels divided, these shared philosophies offer a path toward unity and understanding.
