Moderate to Heavy Rainfall Expected in Hainan As Typhoon Approaches

Typhoon Yinxing Approaches Hainan, Heavy Rains Expected

Residents of central and southeastern Hainan Province are bracing for moderate to heavy rainfall as Typhoon Yinxing approaches the Chinese island. According to a report released on Sunday by China’s Ministry of Water Resources, downpours are expected from November 11 to 12.

Minor rises in water levels are anticipated in the Wanquan River, Changhua River, and other coastal rivers. The Ministry of Water Resources is closely monitoring Typhoon Yinxing’s path and will conduct daily discussions and assessments. They are promptly informing the Hainan Provincial Water Resources Department of rainfall forecasts and meeting results.

“We are accelerating repairs to damaged water infrastructure and enhancing mountain flood prevention measures,” said an official from the ministry. “Improving evacuation plans for at-risk areas and optimizing reservoir operations are also our priorities to balance flood control and water storage.”

A team has been deployed to Hainan to support flood control operations. The provincial water resources department has been working to identify and address risks in water infrastructure and is preparing reservoirs for potential flooding.

As of 10 a.m. on November 10, Typhoon Yinxing was centered about 245 kilometers southeast of Sansha City, Hainan, and is expected to move southwest at 5-10 kilometers per hour.
