China and Cambodia Vow to Strengthen Ties for a Shared Future

On Wednesday in Beijing, China’s top legislator Zhao Leji met with Cambodia’s Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen to reinforce the bond between their nations.

Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), emphasized that China and Cambodia’s relationship has entered a new era marked by high quality and high standards. He expressed China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Cambodia, enhancing practical cooperation and fostering people-to-people exchanges based on the consensus of their top leaders.

“China stands ready to work with Cambodia to firmly support each other,” Zhao said, highlighting the importance of deepening ties.

Hun Sen, who also serves as President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), acknowledged the significant impact of Cambodia-China cooperation on his country’s economic development and efforts to reduce poverty. He affirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening their all-round friendly cooperation and advancing the building of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future.

“The cooperation between Cambodia and China is of great significance,” Hun Sen stated.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of legislative exchanges. Zhao noted that the NPC is willing to enhance cooperation with Cambodia’s Senate and National Assembly to contribute to their shared future.
