China has urged the United States to respect the principles of a market economy and fair competition. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the statement during a regular press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.
Lin’s remarks came in response to questions about the latest U.S. export controls on semiconductors targeting China. “We hope the U.S. will adhere to market economy laws and the principle of fair competition,” Lin stated.
The U.S. recently announced new restrictions on semiconductor technology exports to China, a move that has raised concerns over its impact on global trade and the tech industry. China’s call for fair competition highlights ongoing tensions between the two nations.
