China Urges Eu to Avoid Abusing Trade Remedy Measures

China Appeals to EU: Let’s Resolve Trade Issues Together

China has urged the European Union (EU) to avoid abusing trade remedy measures to protect the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

On Thursday, He Yadong, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, expressed concern over the EU’s increasing number of trade remedy investigations targeting China. So far this year, the EU has initiated 15 such investigations, including planned anti-dumping duties on titanium dioxide originating from China.

“China hopes the EU will conduct these investigations strictly in accordance with World Trade Organization rules,” He said during a press conference. He emphasized that China prefers resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation, aiming to prevent an escalation of trade frictions with the EU.

He added that China will closely monitor the EU’s subsequent actions and firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
