China’s business community has voiced strong opposition to the United States’ recent tightening of export controls on semiconductor technology. A spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) condemned the U.S. measures, stating that they violate market economy laws and principles of fair competition.
The U.S. announced stricter regulations on semiconductor manufacturing equipment and memory chip exports to China earlier this week. Additionally, 136 Chinese entities were added to its Entity List, limiting their access to U.S. technology.
The CCPIT spokesperson emphasized that such unilateral actions disregard international economic and trade rules and undermine the stability of global industrial and supply chains. “These measures will undoubtedly have a severe impact on the global semiconductor industry, including U.S. companies,” the spokesperson warned.
The global semiconductor industry relies on close cooperation and communication. The spokesperson highlighted that the abuse of unilateral sanctions threatens the foundation of this collaborative development, potentially hindering innovation and progress worldwide.
China’s business community is calling on the United States to cease its unilateral control measures immediately. They urge the U.S. to abide by international trade rules and work towards promoting the healthy development of the global semiconductor industry. By safeguarding the security and stability of industrial and supply chains, both nations can contribute to building “mutually beneficial chains for the world,” the spokesperson added.
