The 2024 Pearl Bay International Climate Investment and Financing Conference, themed “Global Cooperation and Green Future,” kicked off on Sunday in Guangzhou, the bustling capital of South China’s Guangdong Province.
In his opening address, Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang emphasized the conference’s significance in advancing China’s dual carbon goals and tackling global climate change. “We are committed to joining hands with countries worldwide and all sectors of society to drive significant progress in climate investment and financing,” Sun stated.
Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, highlighted the pivotal role of climate investment in promoting green finance. “By guiding and encouraging more social capital to support green and low-carbon technological innovation and industrial transformation, we can achieve a win-win for the climate, society, and economy,” Zhao explained. “This will inject new momentum into high-quality development.”
The conference brings together leaders, innovators, and young visionaries to collaborate on sustainable solutions for a greener future. Participants are exploring ways to attract investment in eco-friendly technologies and foster global partnerships to combat climate change.
