Experts are praising China’s recent “1+10” Dialogue held in Beijing, highlighting its significant role in boosting global economic cooperation and promoting openness.
The meeting brought together leaders from major international economic organizations, showcasing China’s efforts to strengthen collaboration on a global scale. According to Yang Tao, deputy director at the National Institution for Finance and Development, active engagement with international groups helps share information, reduce misunderstandings, and build consensus. “It also paves the way for innovative projects in the world’s economic and financial sectors,” he said.
Liu Ge, a commentator for China Media Group, emphasized that China’s commitment to opening up reflects its determination to become more integrated into the global economy. “This not only stabilizes foreign investment and trade but also helps shape a new framework for comprehensive openness,” Liu noted.
In a time when the world economy is facing challenges like slow growth and rising protectionism, experts believe initiatives like the “1+10” Dialogue are crucial. Sang Baichuan, dean of the Institute for International Economy, pointed out that some countries have harmed free trade by imposing extra tariffs and adopting protectionist policies. “China’s deeper cooperation with international organizations can help others better understand its economy,” he explained.
Ren Lin, director at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stressed the need for major economies to coordinate their policies to lessen negative impacts from developed countries. She also highlighted the importance of amplifying voices from the Global South and working together to find new ways to drive global economic growth.
