Meta’s Platforms Face Global Outage: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram Affected

Meta’s popular social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads, experienced a global outage on Wednesday, affecting users worldwide.

Starting around 10 a.m. Pacific Time, users began reporting issues accessing the apps. According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, reports surged with over 97,000 issues for Facebook and over 67,000 for Instagram.

Meta acknowledged the disruption in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “We're aware that a technical issue is impacting some users' ability to access our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”

Instagram and WhatsApp shared similar messages, assuring users that they were working on solutions. By 10:49 a.m. Pacific Time, WhatsApp reported seeing a return to normal for most users.

The cause of the outage remains unknown, and Meta has not provided further details. Users across the globe expressed frustration and concern, highlighting how integral these platforms have become in daily communication.

This incident underscores the widespread reliance on Meta’s services and raises questions about the stability of global communication networks. Users are advised to stay tuned for updates as the company works to resolve any remaining issues.
