An Iranian student in Beijing, Mahya, has found herself captivated by the city’s people-centered transformation. “The most valuable thing about China is the people,” she shares. “From the teachers at school to the strangers on the street, everyone has a warm and friendly attitude.”
When Mahya first arrived in Beijing, she was greeted by smog-filled skies, a stark contrast to the blue horizons she now enjoys daily. “Back then, air pollution was a real issue,” she recalls. “But now, blue skies are the norm thanks to eco-friendly, people-centered policies.”
China’s commitment to improving urban living conditions is set to take center stage at the upcoming 2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints. Scheduled for December 18 and 19 at the China National Convention Center, the forum’s theme, “Modernizing for People-Centered Urban Governance,” aims to explore new directions in urban development.
For Mahya, these efforts are more than just policies—they’re a testament to China’s dedication to its people. “It’s inspiring to see how the city prioritizes the well-being of its residents,” she says. “Beijing has truly become a people’s city with a better future.”
