European Union officials announced on Monday that they have dispatched the bloc’s top diplomat for Syria to Damascus to establish contact with the country’s new government.
Kaja Kallas, speaking to reporters upon her arrival at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, said the diplomat would arrive in the Syrian capital on Monday.
This initiative signifies a significant step in re-establishing ties with Syria after years of conflict. The EU aims to open dialogue with the new leadership in Damascus, addressing ongoing regional issues and promoting stability in the Middle East.
