The BeiDou system provides real-time monitoring of typhoons and vessel locations, allowing fishermen to stay informed and avoid dangerous weather conditions. “Before BeiDou, we relied on traditional methods and the risks were high,” says Li Wei, a fisherman from Fujian province. “Now, we receive timely updates and can adjust our routes accordingly.”
Improved communication means that fishermen can also stay connected with their families while at sea. The reduced risk and increased safety have led to a more sustainable livelihood for these coastal communities.
