Tianjin Bohai Bank Dominates Zamalek SC in Club World Championship Opener

In their opening match of the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, Tianjin Bohai Bank from China delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Egypt’s Zamalek Sporting Club in straight sets: 25-16, 25-18, 25-15.

The trio of Wang Yizhu, Li Yingying, and Chen Boya powered Tianjin’s offense, combining for an impressive 48 points. Wang led the team with a match-high 17 points, showcasing her exceptional skill and versatility on the court.

Tianjin, who secured a third-place finish in last year’s tournament—their best result to date—started strong. Setter Yao Di orchestrated a dynamic offense, including a standout moment where she set up Irina Fetisova for a powerful spike, giving Tianjin an early 14-9 lead in the first set.

Libero Liu Liwen demonstrated her defensive prowess, making crucial saves that set up Li Yingying’s signature left-handed attacks. Tianjin maintained their momentum throughout the match, with precise teamwork and patient play that kept Zamalek on the back foot.

The next challenge for Tianjin Bohai Bank is a face-off against Italian powerhouse Vero Volley Milano. Fans are eagerly anticipating the clash, as Tianjin aims to build on their strong start and continue their quest for the championship title.
