Tianjin Makes History: First Chinese Team in FIVB Women’s Club Final

Tianjin Bohai Bank has made history by becoming the first Chinese team to reach the final of the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship. In an electrifying match on Saturday in Hangzhou, Tianjin defeated Brazil’s Dentil Praia Clube 3-1.

Entering the tournament with high hopes, Tianjin showed remarkable skill and determination. Captain Li Yingying, who overcame earlier injury concerns, was instrumental in the victory, scoring a match-high 32 points. Her leadership on the court energized the team and thrilled fans.

“We faced challenges, but our experience and teamwork carried us through,” said Li after the match. “We’re excited to represent China on this global stage.”

Tianjin dominated the group stage without losing a single set, boosting their confidence heading into the semifinals. Despite a momentary lapse in the third set against Dentil Praia, they quickly regained their composure to seal the win with scores of 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, and 25-22.

The final promises to be a thrilling showdown as Tianjin will face Italy’s Imoco Volley Conegliano, featuring Chinese star Zhu Ting. Zhu helped her team secure a straight-set victory over Novara Vero Volley Milano in the other semifinal, contributing 15 points.

“It’s going to be an exciting match,” Zhu said. “No matter the outcome, I’m happy to see Chinese players shining on the world stage.”
