China Urges Philippines to Withdraw Us Mid range Missile System

China Calls on Philippines to Remove U.S. Mid-Range Missile System

China has urged the Philippines to remove the U.S. mid-range missile system from its territory, calling it a “provocative and dangerous move” that could escalate regional tensions.

On Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the issue during a regular press briefing in Beijing. Responding to reports about the deployment of the U.S. Typhon mid-range missile system in the Philippines, Mao expressed China’s firm opposition to the arrangement.

“Accepting this missile system, a strategic and offensive weapon, is a provocative and dangerous move by the Philippine side,” Mao said. “It cooperates with external forces to create regional tension and confrontation, provoking geopolitical rivalry and an arms race.”

She emphasized the need for peace and prosperity in the region, rather than military build-ups and confrontations. “The region needs peace and prosperity, not mid-range missiles and confrontation,” Mao stated. “We urge the Philippine side to correct its wrongdoings and withdraw the missile system at an early date.”

The deployment of the U.S. missile system in the Philippines has been a contentious issue, with concerns that it could heighten tensions in the region. China’s call reflects its stance on maintaining stability and avoiding escalations that could impact neighboring countries.

The Philippines has not yet responded to China’s latest remarks.
