Brazilian Midfielder Oscar Rejoins Home Club Sao Paulo

Brazil’s Oscar Returns to Sao Paulo After 14-Year Journey

Brazilian midfielder Oscar is making a triumphant return to his boyhood club, Sao Paulo, after 14 years of playing abroad. The 33-year-old’s homecoming comes after notable stints with Chelsea in England and Shanghai Port in China.

On Tuesday, Sao Paulo club president Julio Casares shared photos of himself with Oscar on social media, calling the move “a super transfer.” Oscar joins the club on a free transfer, though the duration of his contract hasn’t been officially disclosed. Local media reports suggest he has signed a three-year deal.

Expressing his gratitude to Shanghai Port, where he spent eight seasons and became a fan favorite, Oscar said, “Today I finish a cycle that marked my life forever. I leave with my heart full of gratitude and pride for everything we achieved together.”

Oscar began his professional career with Sao Paulo before moving to Internacional in 2010. In 2012, he joined Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles and a Europa League trophy. His move to Shanghai in January 2017 saw him win three Chinese Super League titles.

Internationally, Oscar represented Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, scoring the team’s only goal in their semifinal match against Germany.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Oscar’s impact as he brings his wealth of experience back to Sao Paulo, inspiring a new generation of football enthusiasts in Brazil and beyond.
