China Urges Respect for Sovereignty Territorial Integrity in Mideast

China Calls for Respect of Middle East Sovereignty

China has called on the international community to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Middle Eastern countries. Speaking in Beijing on Saturday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of acknowledging the legitimate concerns and independent choices of the people in the region.

During talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Wang Yi stated, “The Middle East belongs to the people of the Middle East. It should not be an arena for major-power rivalry or fall victim to geopolitical competition by external countries.”

He urged for an immediate ceasefire and an end to violence to help the region emerge from chaos and achieve stability. Wang highlighted the need to ease the humanitarian crisis and resume dialogue and negotiations through political means.

“We hope all parties will play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East,” he said. Wang cautioned against imposing external will, pointing fingers, or resorting to sanctions that provoke confrontation.

As a longstanding friend and partner of Middle Eastern nations, China has consistently supported them in independently exploring development paths, resolving issues through dialogue, safeguarding sovereignty and independence, and opposing external interference.
