A powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday morning, leaving 95 people dead and 130 injured as of 3 p.m. local time.
The quake hit at 9:05 a.m. Beijing Time, with the epicenter in Tsogo Township, Dingri County, within the city of Xigaze. The sudden tremor has caused significant casualties and damage in the region.
More than 3,400 rescuers and over 340 medical workers have been dispatched to the affected areas. Rescue teams are working around the clock to search for survivors and provide medical assistance to the injured.
