Volunteer Shares Experience of Xizang Earthquake Relief Efforts

At least 126 people have been confirmed dead and 188 others injured after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake jolted Dingri County in Xigaze city, southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lyu Yuhong, a driver with the China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. working in Lhasa, witnessed the devastating earthquake firsthand. He recalls the moment the quake struck and shares his story of volunteering in the aftermath.

“The situation at the earthquake site is dire,” Lyu recounted. “Fortunately, there were no casualties in the village we went to.”

Despite the challenging conditions, Lyu and other volunteers have been tirelessly assisting in relief efforts, providing support to affected residents. Their dedication highlights the resilience and unity of the community in the face of natural disasters.

Authorities continue to assess the damage and coordinate ongoing relief operations to aid those impacted by the earthquake.
