China is sending a special envoy to Venezuela for the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro on January 10. Wang Dongming, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, will represent Chinese President Xi Jinping at the ceremony in Caracas.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced on Thursday that Wang will attend the event at the invitation of the Venezuelan government.
This visit reflects the close ties between China and Venezuela. The two countries have strengthened their relationship through trade and cooperation in various sectors, including energy and infrastructure.
President Maduro begins his new term amid ongoing economic challenges in Venezuela. China’s participation in the inauguration signals continued support and interest in collaborating with Venezuela.
