Real Madrid Defeat Mallorca to Set Up Super Cup Final with Barcelona

Real Madrid Sets Up Super Cup Final Showdown with Barcelona After 3-0 Win Over Mallorca

Real Madrid has set the stage for an epic Super Cup final against Barcelona after a commanding 3-0 victory over Mallorca in Jeddah on Thursday.

Jude Bellingham broke Mallorca’s stubborn defense in the 63rd minute, sliding the ball into the net after Rodrygo’s diving header hit the post and Kylian Mbappé’s rebound was saved by goalkeeper Dominik Greif.

In the second minute of injury time, Mallorca defender Martin Valjent inadvertently deflected Brahim Díaz’s pass intended for Mbappé into his own net, doubling Real Madrid’s lead. Rodrygo sealed the win with a goal on his 24th birthday, making it 3-0 with virtually the last kick of the game.

Real Madrid dominated from the outset, nearly scoring in the opening minute when Mbappé set up Bellingham, whose shot was skillfully saved by Greif. Mbappé and Vinícius Jr. were constant threats, with Mallorca struggling to contain their pace and creativity.

Mallorca’s best chance came when Cyle Larin headed Dani Rodríguez’s cross wide while unmarked in the penalty area. However, once Bellingham opened the scoring, Mallorca struggled to regain a foothold in the match.

Tensions flared late in the game when Pablo Maffeo reacted to a minor altercation with Bellingham after the third goal, but the incident did little to overshadow Real Madrid’s impressive performance.

Barcelona secured their place in the final earlier, defeating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Wednesday with goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal.

The much-anticipated Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Barcelona is set for Sunday, promising an exciting clash between the two Spanish giants.
