Locomotive Depot in Heilongjiang Draws Winter Crowds

Snow-Covered Railway Museum in Heilongjiang Becomes Winter Hotspot

Under the snowy skies of northeast China, the Chinese Eastern Railway Museum in Hengdaohezi Town is becoming a magnet for winter tourists. Nestled in the heart of Heilongjiang Province, this museum offers a picturesque glimpse into China’s rich railway history.

The museum features two main exhibition areas: a historic church and a century-old locomotive depot. These architecturally unique structures are drawing visitors eager to experience their timeless charm and capture memorable photos.

Part of the Middle East Railway architectural complex, the Hengdaohezi Locomotive Depot is not only the largest along the eastern section of the railway but also one of the best-preserved semicircular steam locomotive depots in the world.

Amidst the tranquil snowfall, travelers from across the region are exploring this winter wonderland, bridging the past and present. “There’s something magical about seeing the old locomotives under the snow,” said one visitor. “It’s like stepping back in time.”

The museum, built on the foundation of the historic depot, serves as a testament to China’s railway heritage and continues to fascinate new generations.
