China Dominates Aerials Mixed Team, Sweeps Gold and Silver at Junior World Championships

China showcased its aerial freestyle prowess by clinching both gold and silver medals in the aerials mixed team event at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Freestyle Junior World Championships held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Saturday.

In a thrilling final, both of China’s teams—Team A and Team B—advanced to the aerials mixed team showdown. Leading the charge for Team B was Wang Qixian, who had already secured a silver in the women’s individual event earlier in the competition. Wang executed a routine with the highest degree of difficulty among female competitors, earning an impressive 84.10 points and setting a high standard for the rest of the field.

Her teammates, Gu Jiubo and Geng Hu, followed up with exceptional performances of their own. Gu scored 96.23 points, while Geng closely trailed with 95.88 points. Their combined efforts amassed a total score of 276.21 points, propelling Team B to the top of the podium.

Team A, composed of Feng Junxi, Yang Zhicheng, and Yang Yuheng, delivered strong performances but ultimately secured the silver medal, completing a remarkable one-two finish for China. Canada’s team rounded out the podium, earning the bronze medal with a total of 230.72 points.

With a total haul of one gold, two silvers, and two bronzes across individual events, China emerged as the standout nation at the championships. Their dominant display in aerial freestyle skiing not only highlights their rising talents on the junior stage but also sets a promising tone for the future of the sport.
