The World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting is set to take place from January 20 to 24 in Davos, Switzerland. This year, the spotlight is on young leaders who are bringing fresh perspectives and optimism to tackle global challenges.
Ahead of Davos 2025, discussions are heating up about the critical role of youth in global decision-making. CGTN’s Wang Tianyu recently sat down with Francois Bonnici, WEF’s Head of Foundations, and Global Shapers Poppy Zidan Chen from the Chinese mainland and Shehrbano Jamali Niazi from Pakistan to delve into how young voices are shaping the future.
“Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the leaders of today,” Bonnici emphasized. “Their energy and innovation are crucial for addressing the world’s most pressing issues.”
Poppy Zidan Chen highlighted the importance of including diverse perspectives: “Coming from the Chinese mainland, I see firsthand how youth engagement can drive progress in technology and sustainability.”
Shehrbano Jamali Niazi added, “In Pakistan, young people are passionate about making a difference. We are eager to collaborate across borders to create lasting change.”
The conversation underscored the need for platforms that amplify youth voices and encourage their participation in policy-making. As the WEF approaches, these young leaders urge their peers to stay informed and get involved.
The future is in the hands of the youth, and their active participation today will shape the world of tomorrow.
